Overview of Responsibilities: Executes the organization’s internal and external communications strategy through a variety of channels and tactics. Develops and delivers a dynamic architecture of effective internal and external communications in alignment with MSGCU’s strategic objectives and direction. Partners with Human Resources to promote team member engagement through owned channels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researches, develops, designs, and implements messaging across multiple channels, including written announcements, photography, podcasts, videos, articles/blogs, training demos, press releases, corporate communications, presentations, user surveys, annual team member report, etc.
- Partners with stakeholders to lead internal communication efforts to support organizational initiatives, including campaigns, corporate projects, events, executive communications, and internal brand advocacy efforts. Collaborates with stakeholders to assess communication needs, create internal communication plans, and refine messaging to ensure communication is clear, consistent, and in alignment with communication goals. Aligns internal and external communications by providing guidance on messaging to direct reports, ensuring consistency across audiences and communication channels.
- Communicates effectively by developing and delivering various forms of communication (written, verbal, presentation). Uses strong communication and editing skills to write on behalf of others, incorporating their style and tone. Facilitates discussions and actively listens to ensure a clear understanding of expectations for self and team. Demonstrates the ability to condense, organize, and convey complex information in a logical, visually pleasing, and user-friendly manner to convey a clear message that meets the needs of different audiences.
- Builds strong relationships and delivers member-centric solutions by developing and implementing communications that enhance the member and team member experience. Develops and implements internal engagement strategies that support a member-focused culture and ensures communications are relevant, timely, and aligned with MSGCU’s missions and values. Works collaboratively to nurture relationships, build trust, and uses teamwork to meet shared objectives.
- Takes action on new opportunities, unfamiliar tasks, and tough challenges with urgency and enthusiasm. Considers relevant factors and data to develop well-researched, timely recommendations and points of view.
- Plans, aligns and prioritizes work to meet organizational goals by executing strategic plans that ensure timely and effective messaging. Maintains an internal communications calendar and coordinates with stakeholders to keep timing on track.
- Identifies opportunities to improve internal and external communication by researching and assessing new technologies and innovations. Develops and oversees the day-to-day maintenance and advancement of the team member portal and internal digital signage network to ensure they are organized, effectively designed, and aligned with organizational philosophies. Serves as a liaison with both vendors to continuously explore enhancements that improve the end user experience.
- Supports the establishment of success criteria and tracks the performance of internal and external communications using defined key performance indicators (KPI) and metrics. Holds self and others accountable to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver clear, strategic, and impactful communications.
- Drives engagement by influencing others and by creating a healthy climate where team members are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.
- Uses collaborative management style to coach and effectively lead team by directing work, providing clear direction, delegating appropriately, and removing obstacles to get work done. Develops team through coaching, feedback, exposure, and stretch assignments.
- Gains the confidence and trust of others by modeling honesty, integrity, authenticity, and behaviors that align with organizational values. Makes responsible choices and exemplifies courage by stepping up to address difficult issues.
- Focuses on self-development by actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using formal and informal development channels.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Human Resources, PR, Business Administration, or related field required; and
- 3 years of related, progressively more responsible marketing experience, preferably within a financial institution, corporate setting, or agency including:
- Experience in internal communications planning, creation and monitoring results, with a focus on corporate communications, writing and editing.
- Experience writing content for multiple channels, including digital content creation (written and designed) and video production experience preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Preferred technology experience includes: Adobe CS (Premiere Pro or iMovie, Photoshop, Acrobat); web/portal software; HTML; and creation of visually effective graphics, multi-media, and digital signage.
Working Conditions:
- Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors.
- Occasionally required to travel throughout the MSGCU's service area as business needs require. Occasional travel to trade activities and/or vendor conferences.
- Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
- This work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing and may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits:

- Base salary begins at $71,200 / year
- Medical, dental and vision on your first day! You can choose the most generous Health Savings Account (HSA)-eligible medical plan with no monthly premium for you (and your family)
- If you are at least 21 years old, you will receive a 3% contribution from MSGCU, and a 100% match for the next 7% you contribute to your 401(k)
- You will enjoy 12 paid holidays and up to 120 hours of PTO your first year of service (pro-rated based on start date)
