Overview of Responsibilities: Leads key marketing initiatives, development of programs and/or creation of new marketing capabilities that enhance the organization’s ability to achieve longer-term goals. Focus of assignments are larger and more complex projects likely to have broad organizational, member or brand impact; may also entail cross-line of business collaboration. Collaborates with the marketing team and within marketing areas of specialty (direct marketing, digital, campaigns, etc.) to ensure advances in strategy and capability achieved through the work of this role are leveraged as necessary and feasible for all marketing deliverables. Leads Special Projects as determined from conception to completion, with executional excellence.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization’s goals by participating in relevant long term planning and other corporate initiatives that impact or involve the organization, brand, and member journey.
  • Makes sound and timely decisions by leveraging member and team member feedback, researching data and business metrics to effectively assess initiatives and developing business plans and recommendations to drive assigned initiatives forward.
  • Cultivates innovation and focuses on the member experience leveraging the latest technology to effectively deliver MSGCU messaging to target audiences, including mobile, video, social, search, real-time media buying, reputation optimization, metrics, original content, ad retargeting, search engine optimization (SEO), and search engine marketing (SEM).
  • Plans, aligns, and prioritizes work in order to meet key corporate marketing initiatives.
  • Actively contributes to a content roadmap and strategy to appropriately position MSGCU to achieve business goals for revenue and product adoption.
  • Ensures accountability by holding self and others accountable to meet commitments and develops key brand and engagement metrics leading to the delivery of a strong, successful brand/message to all member and prospect audiences.
  • Collaborates with others to meet shared objectives by working cross-functionally to promote marketing content internally to ensure alignment of messaging for major initiatives.
  • Works within the marketing team and with other departments to infuse a low-effort/ease of use service experience philosophy for members and prospects when they interact with all channels.
  • Works cross-functionally with product, sales, virtual services, and training teams to improve the buyer’s journey through enhanced content or usability experiences.
  • Communicates effectively  by developing and delivering various forms of communication (written, verbal, presentation), that are in alignment with the credit union’s brand strategy, positioning, identity, naming, campaign, communications, and messaging projects.
  • Instills trust by gaining the confidence of others by modeling honesty, integrity and authenticity. Makes responsible choices and exemplifies courage by stepping up to address difficult issues and saying what needs to be said. Maintains a trusting relationship with all team members.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness by soliciting feedback and through reflection gains productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses. Applies feedback to personal development using both formal and informal development channels.

Essential Preparation and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising, or other related field; or graduate level degree in related field.
  • 8 years of experience and proven success managing marketing initiatives, resulting in incremental revenue and profit.
  • Proven experience in planning and implementing marketing communications programs tied to marketing strategy.
  • Experience in brand strategy, online marketing, direct marketing, and monitoring marketing results.
  • Preference for candidates who have prior financial services marketing experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment generally good. Required to travel throughout the MSGCU's service area reviewing member communications and experience, and representing the Credit Union.
  • Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
  • Strength Level – Sedentary: exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and involves walking or standing for brief periods of time.
